The real Super Sunday

Readers of Giants Win may know that I don't care very much about football so it's fitting for me to call today a Super Sunday, not the first Sunday in February.

SF GIANTS 9, NY METS 0

CHICAGO CUBS 7, LA DODGERS 3

What a thing of beauty.

Madison Bumgarner threw his second career shutout -- 95 pitches, 74 strikes. Pence broke out of of a 4-for-38 slump. Brandon Belt is back and homered. Jarrett Parker is back in the minors. Here's some from Henry Schulman's game story for the SF Chron --

With one out in the third inning, after Brandon Crawford’s leadoff single, Pence hit a laser off a fence just beyond the left-field wall for his 14th of the season. Pence was in a 4-for-38 slump.
Belt’s fourth-inning homer felt like it was in the air for a fortnight  before it landed just beyond the right-field fence at the foul pole. His 11th gave the Giants a 3-0 lead.
When Posey followed Pence’s fifth-inning double with a two-out double, and Pablo Sandoval hit a scoring single, the rout was on at 6-0.
Bumgarner started the three-run fifth with a single and walked ahead of the Posey homer in the seventh.
