Crawford moving out of Belanger territory
I hadn't realized that Brandon Crawford had wound up 2012 hitting almost .250. He began hitting much better in the last two months of the season, according to this Henry Schulman story in the SF Chron.
Mark Belanger was a superb fielder with the Orioles who was a real banjo hitter with a grand total of 20 HRs in 17 years. He got to play because Baltimore had enough firepower elsewhere.
Belanger was a good enough player to rack up over 39 Wins Above Replacement in his career despite a .228 lifetime batting average.
He had a 6.4 WAR in 1976 and did not get a single MVP vote!
Crawford looks like he's got a bit more pop than Belanger. He already has 7 homers
