10 and a third scoreless in the playoffs
The Giants have locked up their first free agent this offseason. They are going to sign Jeremy Affeldt to a 3-year deal worth $18 million, according to a story they've posted on their official web site. That seems like a lot. The signing shows two things --
1. how much the Giants value pitching
2. how much the Giants values postseason pitching -- particularly 10 and third scoreless this year.
Jeremy had an astounding 2009 with a 2.5 WAR, fell back in 2010 with a -0.2 WAR and has posted 0.7 WARs in the past two years, according to Baseball Reference. He's been stellar in the two postseasons, though.
