Brett Pill?
I'm not quite sure why the Giants front office seems to be telling the beat writers that Brett Pill is going to make the team and Brandon Belt is going to start the season in Fresno. Pill's a 27-year-old who's not a big deal -- Belt is 23 could be an All-Star and is pounding the ball in Arizona if Alex Pavlovic of the Merc-News is to be believed.
I think this particular situation is one reason why people question Brian Sabean's ability to evaluate non-pitching prospects. Sabean always will go with the older more ordinary player.

the reason has been written by the beat writers multiple times... the Giants can use a RH pinch hitter w/ some pop off the bench, and Belt is someone who should play every day. If the Giants are committed to Huff as the starting 1B, and the OF is crowded with Schierholtz/Pagan/Cabrera/Blanco then its tough to see where Belt fits in there. Hopefully Huff will be on a short leash to start the season...
