Awful lack of support for Tim
Giants Win is still on board for a season-ending 8-game winning streak. Why do I keep urging that Hensley Meulens be fired? Here's a tweet I just saw --

Why would you care about a coach when it has been dyed-in-the-wool veteran hitters who wouldn't change a thing if you paid them a million dollars because that's like a towel boy tip anyway? The hitting coach has zero influence on people like Huff, Ross, Tejada, Cabrera, Fontenot, etc. They're all Bochys: Gotta go with what got ya here. Huff wouldn't change his approach because Meulens recommended it even if he hadn't had a hit all year. Fire the effing hitters.
Hilarie, we're going to have to agree to disagree. The guys you've listed are capable of doing better but Meulens apparently can't coach them well enough to make that happen. He's incompetent and should have been fired long ago.
Two things:
Lansford lamented the same lack of discipline. They fired him. Before him, Joe Lefebvre. Giants continued to be a team of aging vets who hack. This leads to ...
The Giants systemically do not value or coach for selectivity. They hire, to coin what was once a once-firable phrase, brain dead hitters who hack at slop.
Fire Sabean for his historically terrible decisions. Fire Bochy for his. Fire Meulins if you want, but it won't matter either way. If you don't fire the first two, the Giants will continue to hire undisciplined veteran hitters. If you do fire the first two, it's possible the Giants will hire and put into the starting lineup disciplined hitters.
Batting coach won't matter either way.
