I don't think Cousins had any intention to end Posey's career.

I do think he had determined to slam into Posey no matter what - even though Posey was neither sitting on the plate nor in the basepath.

The play wasn't illegal, but it definitely was at least borderline dirty.

It isn't any different than sliding into 2nd base with your spikes up and legs extended out as far as they can stretch.

Thanks for taking the time to write a thoughtful post, Khan. We are going to have to agree to disagree on several points. First off, there's a huge difference between sliding into second base and running full tilt into a catcher. Second, it's not legal to try and knock a ball out of a fielder's hands or glove -- even if that rule isn't enforced. As to Cousins' intent, he can whine alll he wants that he's a good guy who meant no harm, but he's a liar and not a very good one.
