Fire Brian Sabean -- right now
Oh, I could have written something about how great it is that Tim Lincecum is back to his good old self with 8 innings of shutout ball and 13 Ks. But the continuing disgraceful performance by the offense and the set-up guys in the bullpen leaves me no alternative but to point the finger at MLB's most incompetent General Manager. The team is now 3-8, projecting out to a 44-118 record.
Kevin Marquez at The Cha Cha Bowl notes that Sabean apparently ignored how Edgar Renteria had turned into a crappy defensive player before signing him to what looks like a ludicrous 2-year, $18.5 million deal.

It's not a 2 year, 18.5 mil contract. Next year the Giants have an option for 9.5 mil, but can buy out for, I think, 500k
No, that's not right. According to the Cot's contract site -- which I have found to be authoritative -- the option that you're talking about is for 2011. This is what it says --
09:$7M, 10:$9M, 11:$10.5M club option ($0.5M buyout)
So it's $16.5 million of guaranteed money and I do think it's a bad deal.
He got a $2 million signing bonus, so that makes it $18.5 mil
