Durham's coming back

Andrew Baggerly of the Merc-News is reporting that Ray Ray is coming back to the Orange and Black. Given the fact that 2006 was his best offensive season by far (26 HRs, 93 RBIs, .538 slg), it seems like a sensible move. He's also reporting that the Aurilia and Roberts signings should be announced this weekend and that this probably means that Feliz won't be re-signed and that the pursuit of Mark Loretta is over.

I'm not sure it's all good news, but I am glad that they resigned Durham to only a 1 year contract. That is what they should be doing here. He is a serviceable player and is not not blocking anyone's development. With a 1 year contract, they can move him later in the season when they fall out of contention (assuming they did not give a no-trade clause).

I don't think that signing Aurilia & Roberts to long term contracts is a good idea. Both are on the down side of their careers and Roberts, particularly, will be a defensive liability in CF.

Rich Draper is reporting it's a two-year deal for $14 million.
